Promoting your articles is a must if you want to publicize your blog and your content. Several methods are possible. And the most obvious is to use social networks. Discover how to promote your articles on social networks, simply and quickly.
Let’s not beat around the bush: if I blog, it’s to be read.
And I know you do too.
Whatever the reasons and motivations for which we blog, being read is either a goal or a satisfaction.
However, you have to be realistic, unless you have a big blog already well established or are lucky, there is little chance of being read if nothing is done.
And yes… There are so many sites already installed and regularly created, and so much content already available and regularly published, that it is difficult to be heard.
But that’s no reason to do nothing.
Because it is possible to make your (small) place in the Sun on the Web.
Capture part of the available audience, help a few people, share and exchange, it’s so pleasant and rewarding that it would be a shame to abdicate. You can contact Social Media Marketing Services Company
So, after writing a wonderful article for your blog , let’s see how to publicize and promote it.
How to promote your articles
Promoting your articles essentially means sharing your articles on social networks.
Why share your articles on social networks?
This is beneficial for your blog in more ways than one :
- you have direct access to your current readers
- you meet new readers
- you can trade with them
- you increase the visibility and notoriety of your blog
Social networks have no direct impact on natural referencing . On the other hand, they have an indirect impact. Like everything you will do around your blog.
Above all, they are an alternative source of traffic to Google and its cronies. And it is better to vary your sources of traffic. So …
On which social networks should you share your articles?
Casually, social networks, there is a good package .
There are of course the great classics that everyone knows. But they are not the only ones.
How to make your choice and decide on which social networks to share your articles?
Here is what I recommend.
Why Facebook and Twitter?
- Because these are generalist networks and you will necessarily find your audience there
- Because Facebook is the biggest: everyone is there, or almost, and you will find a huge sounding board there
- Because Twitter is very simple to use, even if its 140 characters can be a constraint, and is not the smallest
In the genre, there is also Google+ which may be suitable. But it seems to me less dynamic than the others. To consider anyway.
Share on networks relevant to you and your blog
Is your audience professional? Share on LinkedIn.
Your audience is female? Share on Hellocoton.
Your content is visual? Share on Pinterest. And think of Instagram, or even Tumblr.
Well, I’m not going to do them all. But you get the idea.
The overall process
When we talk about the promotion of its articles, we often speak only of the promotion of its new articles.
Serious mistake.
Of course, sharing your new articles is important. But that’s the bare minimum. And there is much more to do.
- You can share your new articles over time.
- You can share your old articles.
Because your current readers are not necessarily present when you publish and share a new article.
Because your new readers don’t know all your old articles.
Because your current readers may have forgotten your old articles.
How to share your new articles as soon as they are published
I am lazy. So if I can automate something and get rid of it, I do.
The good news is that sharing your new articles is automatable.
Guess what ? I automated it!
As soon as I publish a new article, it is automatically shared on my social accounts.
Automate social shares with Buffer
In addition to my social accounts:
- I have a Buffer account ,
- I use the WP to Buffer plugin .
Buffer allows to:
- know the hours when your audience is most present
- choose the times of its shares
Buffer allows the use of several social networks: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest and Instagram.
Buffer is a very handy tool that I haven’t finished telling you about in this article 🙂
The “WP to Buffer” plugin allows you to link your blog to your Buffer account. When a post or page is published or updated, Buffer is notified and schedules your sharing.
Everything is configurable, whether at the Buffer level or at the plugin level:
- sharing when publishing and/or updating an article
- sharing when publishing and/or updating a page
- the maximum number of daily shares per social network
- sharing schedules by social network
- the social networks to really use
Automate social shares with IFTTT
If you are allergic to Buffer or don’t want to use an additional plugin on your blog, you can use IFTTT .
IFTTT is a Swiss army knife that automatically performs an action when an event occurs. Actions and events are simple but numerous. And the combinations are multiple.
In the case that interests us, when an article is published, IFTTT allows you to relay it to all the social accounts it can manage. They are not all there but many are managed, including the most common.
IFTTT has the disadvantage of not being able to choose the time of sharing on social networks. Unless you link IFTTT to your Buffer account. You find the situation seen previously (with Buffer and the “WP to Buffer” plugin) but without the plugin.
Personally, I kept it simple and I don’t use IFTTT. But I use it for other purposes.
Note that these 2 methods also work with your pages.
