Yoga experts say that in Sanskrit, ‘Kapal’ means skull, and ‘Bhati’ means ‘shining/luminous’. Hence, Kapalbhati Pranayama is also known as Skull Shining Breathing Technique i.e. the breathing technique that brightens your head/mind. It is practiced for a bright and healthy mind.
The correct way to do Kapalbhati:

- Keep in mind that always practice Kapalbhati on an empty stomach.
- First of all, sit on a mat on the ground.
- Sit in the meditative posture. You can choose Padmasana or Sukhasana.
- Place your palms above your knees.
- Do not press the knees inward too much, keep them open.
- Keep your waist straight and take a deep breath.
- Now exhale rapidly while pulling your stomach in.
- Be relaxed while exhaling and inhaling.
- Repeat this process 20 times to complete one set.
